The United States Sign Council has announced that the Larson Institute at Penn State University will be conducting its 6th study on sign lighting, entitled "On-Premise Sign Luminance Levels." The research will seek to determine standard luminance values for various types of internally illuminated, on-premise signs and color schemes. The six sign types to be tested will display more than 200 different color combinations, using both fluorescent and LED light sources under both factory-controlled and in-field conditions.
End users and sign manufacturers should ultimately be able to use these resulting luminance levels via a master table, website or app to quickly and easily determine the approximate luminance level for the proposed sign.
Anticipated completion of the study is September 2016. for further information, contact Richard Crawford at firstname.lastname@example.org or (215) 345-1481.
