United States Sign Council Provides 15 Sign-Related Studies

Since 1996, the United States Sign Council, though its Research Foundation, has published 15 studies that cover such sign-related topics as legibility, placement, illumination, community impact and traffic safety. Working with the Larson Institute of Transportation Research at Penn State University, USSC has created empirical data on human factors and traffic engineering that has allowed it to develop guidelines, mathematical models and a model sign code designed to facilitate development of performance-oriented, community sign systems.
